My disgust for the SAF! You know how i used to think grouses from my brother was merely whines. I mean, everytime when i read off the news or those fancy tv commercials, you kinda paint out this wonderous picture of our armed forces. Yeah? I don't belittle their achievements nor military strength that does meets its purpose, but then the organisation is so full of redtape its disgusting.

Let me explain, first of all is the first task of my day, manning the SARs counter. Okay, the whole damn procedure of signing in, signing out and taking temperature! I mean! Hey, it got so much of a chore it lost its purpose. I was doing my job and so were people signing in for the sake of adhering to the "directive"

Worst of all the "directive" never really got passed down to create the counter. Seems that we are the rare few places that actually has the counter and since no "directive" has been passed down from authorities, the counter stays.

Secondly was the incident in my office where the shredder machine broke down. Someone tried to shred some cardboard with glue and it jammed the machine. Then it all began the whole crazy proces of pointing fingers and finding BLAME. I was disgusted. I mean it wasn't just pointing fingers. It was a whole damn fiasco. Everyone started grabbing witnessess and claim that it wasn't their fault. 2 department heads came to like settle whose final fault it was and how he was to write statements. He wrote on statement, photostated 3 times. Another report was filed by a witness, xeroxed 3 times and signed but various individuals to be posted to 3 different places to "account and repair"
I almost died. Simple problem, they didnt think or focus about solving the problem like getting someone experienced around to try to repair it. But yah. SHEESH.

It was to be worse. I was tasked to file in a GOM, some document. I went to the docu store and gosh the number of folders archived! Tonnes of paper all filed up dating back to like 1993 and i bet you NO ONE READS EM. And there i was tasked to add in another page of useless paper. Worst off, i knew this process wasn't exclusive to my office. It was sent out to the ENTIRE SAF admin sections to update. I mean. The GOM is standard throughout SAF right. Why cant they have ONE copy in a mainframe which will be accessible to all? I'm but a small NSF, who am i to change all this? I just can't belief why my mam can't see how ridiculous the process was. I guess she can't care less. Government worker, worried of a ricebowl and nothing less.

Oh well. I think my expression aint good enough to do myself justice. Haha. Describe so long and i don't seem to get the jist of it. Grr. Even when i know redtape is inevitable, but the mountain of paper work in SAF? In-excusable. period.
