"Do unto others what you DO NOT want others to do unto you."

a good friend of mine left this comment on C's blog and i was really confused by it.

1.is it good advice or what? given the ethos, if A does not want her ass kicked (do not want others to do unto you), she should kick everyone else's ass (do unto others) Dear! (weiyi, be careful with puns) What kind of advice is that?!?!

if you should read it another way then

2. it simply means doing nothing. if B does not steal someone's icecream (do unto others), she wont get ice cream kicked, err... licked. (what you do not want others to do unto you)

are you lost with my explanation? Or are you also stuck in a some stupid late-night confusion from reading too much cheesy advice left on blogs.
